Billy Almaguer

Billy and his family are no strangers to Florida or ministry. He met his wonderful wife Kelli in 2000 in West Palm Beach, Florida, while serving in a young adults ministry at Christ Fellowship. He will be quick to tell you that his wife has an incredible gift as a worship leader, and she is a beautiful gift from the Lord. In 2001, Billy, Kelli, and other young adults went to the Dominican Republic for a mission trip. Immediately after the trip, Billy and Kelli began dating and were married in November of 2002. 

He and Kelli are big believers in the local church and have served together in various ministries since 2001. They have been on staff at Calvary Chapel Port St. Lucie and Southbrook Church since 2007.

Awaken City’s Start

 In 2012 God began to work in the heart of Billy and started a slow and steady process of preparing him and his family to go and make disciples. In January 2015, God gave Billy the vision of planting a Calvary Chapel church in St. Augustine, Florida. With the full blessing and support of Southbrook Church, Billy and Kelli have begun to transition to fulfill this call in their lives. Billy will quickly tell you that Jesus never said to plant a church but instead make disciples. His heart is on reaching those who are close to us but far from God with the life-changing message of Jesus and cultivating discipleship opportunities.

Billy is a licensed professional engineer with ten years of experience doing consulting work along the east coast of Florida and has served in the local church since 1998. 

Kelli Almaguer

Kelli has led worship for over 20 years and in various venues. She is passionate about seeing people come to an authentic place of worship. Kelli previously served as a worship leader at Calvary Chapel Port St. Lucie, and has spent many years helping create and produce graphics and media. She is also blessed to be able to homeschool their four children. She is passionate about the local church and stops nothing short of giving her best to God every week.

Jeff Eggleston

As Executive Pastor of Awaken City, Jeff oversees church operations and manages life groups. Jeff also serves as a Trustee and is part of the worship team. In addition to his church role, he has worked as an educator since 2001, teaching in several states and overseas. His previous ministry experience includes serving as a worship musician and leader for students and adults and a life group leader. He is married to his high school sweetheart Jennie and has three children.

Jennie Eggleston

Jennie has been blessed to be part of the Awaken City Church launch team and strives to use her gifts to Follow Jesus & Cultivate People. She has experience serving in various areas of ministry, including Worship for adults and students, Children’s Ministry, Women’s Groups, and Lifegroup Leader. Jennie currently serves as Ministry Director at Awaken City, where she loves to help people get connected and grow their faith with a NextSteps class, life group, or serving team. She is also part of the worship team, event planning, and administration. Jennie is married to her high school sweetheart Jeff and has three children.

Cat Growick

Cat has so much life and love rooted in our beautiful city of St. Augustine. She fell in love with the town as a little girl when her parents would bring her every fall. Then, when she was older, she felt the Lord leading her to the place that had captured her heart, so she moved to St. Augustine to study education at Flagler College. There she met and fell in love with her husband of 10 years, Jonathan. After college, they were married and moved away to Virginia, all the while knowing they longed to be back in St. Augustine. While in Virginia, Cat taught elementary school at a private Christian school.

Then, God took them to Sarasota, FL.

Cat worked as a tutor for homeless and foster care children before He opened the door for them to return to St. Augustine. Since then, Cat has been a stay-at-home mom for six years, and she and Jonathan are happy to be raising two lively and rambunctious boys, Judah and August (named in honor of our city, of course!), here in the place where it all began. Her heart for children, teaching, and the people of this city makes for an exciting and fulfilling way to serve God and Awaken City Church as the Children’s Ministry Director.

Joel Lloret

Joel and his wife Maegen have been married for seven years and have two children. In 2016, God called them to leave their long-time home in New York and begin a new journey in St. Augustine as a part of Awaken City Church. They are passionate about the Church and serve the Lord faithfully each week with their many gifts and talents! As RISE (Student Ministry) leaders, they have a heart for seeing the students grow in their walk with Jesus and strive to help them connect with each other and their community! They are both key team members at Awaken City Church and serve in various ministries, including Worship and Production, Set-up Team, Children’s Ministry, and Lifegroup leaders.

Robert Growick

Bob received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at the age of 18. Since then, Bob has served in various ministries within the local church, including the music, adult, and children’s ministries. In addition, he enjoys encouraging others and praying for their needs. Bob married his high school sweetheart Mary, and God has graciously blessed them with two sons, a daughter, and three grandchildren. He has worked in the fire service in north and south Florida for over 37 years.
