Our Values

Follow Jesus and Cultivate People

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

- Matthew 28:19 (ESV)

Jesus never said to plant churches, but rather to make disciples. The vision of Awaken City Church is simple, to Follow Jesus and to Cultivate People. As a church we will pursue Jesus in all that we do. Our values support this vision and purpose.

This is What ACC Believes

We believe that God has put people in our lives who are close to us but far from Him, as a result, we as believers in Jesus have an incredible opportunity to use our lives as stories of redemption and grace so that others can see God’s grace and goodness in our lives. We also believe that God has called us to make disciples who make disciples. As a result, we will never stop investing into opportunities to grow as believers. From the moment of salvation to the moment we are able to disciple others, we will focus our time and energies in to cultivating people.

Our Values

An Overview of Our Values as a Church

ALL FOR ONE

God’s Word is our authority and guide in all things. We stand firm where it stands firm and remain flexible where it is flexible. We believe that it is the Word of God that changes lives. (2 Timothy 3:16)

BETTER TOGETHER

The Bible paints the picture of the early church as being relational and community-based. We believe that authentic relationships and community are essential to being the church in our community. (Acts 2:42-47)

PASSION FOR PEOPLE

God has called us to go into our world and preach the gospel. We believe that everything we do has eternal implications for someone; therefore, we choose to live our life on a mission for the calling God has placed on our hearts. (Mark 16:15, Matthew 5:14-16)

GROW TO GO

The Bible instructs us to bring the gospel “into all the world” to make disciples. We believe that this will require us to be adaptable in our approach to both new and old practices. We must be willing to change when necessary within biblical parameters so that we “by all possible means might save some.” (1 Corinthians 9:22)

LIVE TO GIVE

We serve a generous God. When we least deserved it, God demonstrated His love for us by sending Jesus to die for us so we could find reconciliation with our Creator. In response, there is a calling on our lives to be generous with our time, resources, and lives. (John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8; 1 Timothy 6:18)
